Saline Tattoo Removal

for Permanent Makeup

Correct, Lighten, or Prepare the Skin for a Better Result

Not every permanent makeup result can be corrected by simply adding more pigment. When brows are too dark, uneven, or the shape no longer fits your face — removal or lightening may be the healthiest first step.

Understanding the Process

What Is Saline Tattoo Removal?

Saline removal uses a specialized saline solution implanted into the skin with a professional tattoo machine or hand tool. As the area heals, the skin naturally lifts some of the pigment toward the surface.

When You May Need It

  • Brows are too dark, saturated, or uneven

  • The shape no longer fits your face

  • Old or discolored pigment that won't correct over

What Saline Removal Does

  • Lifts and softens unwanted pigment from the skin

  • Prepares the area for a correction or cover-up

  • Reshapes brows without surgery or harsh chemicals

Tattoo removal is a process, not a one-time fix. Even laser removal requires multiple treatments, and complete removal is not always guaranteed. Several sessions may be needed depending on pigment depth, saturation, color, age of the tattoo, and your skin's healing response.

Is This Right for You?

Who Is a Good Candidate?

  • Permanent makeup that is slightly too dark

  • Uneven, patchy, or outside the desired shape

  • Old, faded, or discolored pigment

  • Needs lightening before a correction or cover-up

  • A small facial or body tattoo area

  • Pigment that has shifted in color or shape over time

  • When Saline May Not Be the Best Option

  • The brows are extremely dark or very heavily saturated

  • The pigment is deeply implanted or there is significant scar tissue

  • The area is irritated, infected, or not fully healed

  • You are pregnant or nursing

  • You expect complete removal in a single session

In cases of very dark or oversaturated pigment, laser removal may be the better first step. We will discuss this openly during your consultation.

Know Your Options

Saline vs. Laser — Which Do You Need?

  • Saline Removal

Preferred for precise lightening of PMU areas, when the goal is to lift pigment enough for a future correction, or when working in a delicate area around the eyes, brows, or lips.

BEST WHEN

  • Shape correction is the primary goal

  • Lightening before a cover-up or redesign

  • Working in sensitive PMU areas

  • Laser Removal

Recommended when pigment is extremely dark, compact, or oversaturated. Lasers break pigment into smaller particles that the body gradually clears — but require proper evaluation for skin type, pigment color, and safety.

BEST WHEN

  • Pigment is very dark or heavily saturated

  • Multiple layers of old PMU are present

  • Deeper correction is needed first

During your consultation, we will evaluate your skin, pigment, shape, and goals to determine the safest and most realistic approach — whether that is saline removal, a laser referral, a correction, or a combination plan.

What to Expect

The Procedure — Step by Step

1

Consultation First

Your consultation is the most important step. We carefully examine the area, discuss your concerns, evaluate whether you are a candidate for saline removal or laser referral, and explain what results are realistic for your case. The consultation is free.

2

Preparation & Consent

All required forms are completed according to California regulations before treatment begins. The area is cleaned and a topical anesthetic may be applied for your comfort.

3

Saline Application

Using professional removal needles and a manual or digital device, the saline solution is worked into the treated area in a controlled manner. The goal is to create a healing response that draws pigment toward the surface. Most sessions take 30–60 minutes depending on the area.

4

Healing & Follow-Up

The area will dry, scab, and heal over the following days. It is very important not to pick the scab — proper healing supports better pigment lifting and reduces the risk of scarring. Multiple sessions are usually needed, spaced 8–10 weeks apart.

Do not pick the scab. The scab is part of the lifting process — it carries pigment with it as it naturally falls away. Picking it disrupts results and risks scarring.

Why Consider Removal

Sometimes the Best Correction

Starts With Removal

If your brows are too dark, too thick, uneven, or no longer fit your face — saline removal may be the first step toward a softer, more natural result.

  • No harsh chemicals — saline is gentle on skin

  • Precise lightening in delicate PMU areas

  • Prepares the skin for a fresh correction

  • Honest, realistic plan from the first consultation

Safe & Honest — Always

If saline removal is not the right option for you, we will tell you that clearly — and help you find the best path forward, whether that is laser, a correction treatment, or a different timeline. Your skin health comes first.
